Geneva, March 10, 2026

The State of Qatar has strongly condemned Iranian missile attacks on its territory as a blatant violation of its national sovereignty and a breach of international law and the United Nations Charter, threatening regional stability.

The comments were made on Tuesday by Deputy Permanent Representative of the Permanent Delegation of the State of Qatar to the UN Office in Geneva Jawhara bint Abdulaziz Al Suwaidi, during a meeting of the Conference on Disarmament.

Al Suwaidi said that targeting Qatari territory violates the principles of good neighborliness and cannot be justified under any pretext. She stressed that Qatar has always sought to distance itself from regional conflicts and had worked to facilitate dialogue between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the international community.

She added that peaceful means represent the best way to address differences and resolve disputes.

Al Suwaidi noted that the attacks targeted civilian interests and facilities, exposing citizens and residents to direct risks, in a grave violation of international law.

She affirmed that the State of Qatar reserves its full right to respond to this targeting, in accordance with Article 51 of the Charter of the United Nations and in a manner proportionate to the nature of the aggression, in defense of its sovereignty and to safeguard its security and national interests.

Al Suwaidi expressed the State of Qatar’s deep concern regarding the recent developments in the region, including the Israeli and the US airstrikes targeting the Islamic Republic of Iran, and the Iranian attacks targeting Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states and several other countries in the region.

She warned that the escalation risks widening the conflict and further destabilizing the region, with grave humanitarian, economic, and security repercussions.

She also expressed Qatar’s strong condemnation of the violation of the sovereignty of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the State of Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, the Kingdom of Bahrain, the Sultanate of Oman, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, and the Republic of Iraq, affirming its full solidarity with these nations.

Al Suwaidi emphasized that Iran’s continued opening of new fronts and escalation with neighboring countries was a highly dangerous development, adding that sustainable regional security can only be attained through dialogue and diplomacy.

She stressed the necessity of protecting civilians, diplomatic missions, vital infrastructure, energy facilities, and maritime navigation routes, in accordance with the rules of international law.

Al Suwaidi reiterated the State of Qatar’s call for an immediate cessation to military actions that undermine regional stability, urging de-escalation and a return to negotiations to prevent the crisis from widening.

HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani led the Qatari delegation.

Participants included the Arab Republic of Egypt, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the Syrian Arab Republic, the Republic of Iraq, the Lebanese Republic, the Republic of Turkiye, and the Republic of Armenia.

The summit addressed the escalating military situation in the region and its serious repercussions on regional and international security and stability, as well as ways to bring the parties back to the negotiating table.

In his address, HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs expressed the State of Qatar’s strong condemnation of Iran’s targeting of Qatari territories with ballistic missiles and drones. “These attacks constitute a blatant violation of our national sovereignty, a direct attack on our security and territorial integrity, and an unacceptable escalation that threatens the security and stability of the region,” His Excellency said.

His Excellency commended the effective response of the Qatari Armed Forces, saying that their vigilance and defensive capabilities helped protect the country and contain the effects of the attacks.

HE Sheikh Mohammed affirmed that the State of Qatar is fully prepared to defend its territories, protect its people, and safeguard its vital infrastructure. “We have complete confidence in the strength and readiness of our armed forces, and we continue to work with our partners to maintain stability and security in the region.”

“Qatar has always been a reliable and responsible energy producer,” he said, adding that the country remained committed to its partners and to the stability of global energy markets.

However, he said that attacks on energy facilities and the challenges facing maritime navigation in the Gulf forced Qatar to adopt temporary measures to ensure the safety of energy infrastructure and personnel. His Excellency said the measures cope with Qatar’s responsibility to protect lives and vital assets, promising that full supply will resume once the situation stabilizes and the safety of facilities is assured.

HE Sheikh Mohammed pointed out that the strikes in the region targeted sovereign territories, endangered civilians and damaged civilian infrastructure.

He noted that the State of Qatar had repeatedly warned, since the outbreak of the war in the Gaza Strip, that the continuation of war without a political solution would lead to further regional tensions and entanglements.

His Excellency emphasized that consolidating stability is a collective responsibility and maintaining international peace is a shared duty, reaffirming the State of Qatar’s commitment to working with its regional and international partners, including the European Union, to prevent the spread of tension and de-escalate the situation.

Qatar Attaches Importance to Children Affected by Armed Conflicts Through Various Forms of Support

Geneva, March 09, 2026

The State of Qatar has underscored that it gives importance to children affected by armed conflicts by providing various kinds of support, recalling that Doha hosted several children who were separated from their parents due to war and were fully taken care of, alongside helping reunite several conflict-stricken children with their families.

It clarified that these efforts will continue through its internationally forged programs and partnerships to ensure access to quality education for millions of children who have been deprived of this right due to conflicts.

This came in the State of Qatar’s statement delivered by Abdullah Ahmed Al Hardan, Third Secretary in the Department of International Organizations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, during his participation in the annual debate on the Rights of the Child within the 61st session of the Human Rights Council (HRC61) in Geneva.

Al Hardan underscored that the State of Qatar places paramount importance on enhancing and protecting the rights of children in both peace and war alike, noting its keenness, within the framework of its international partnerships, to support efforts aimed at safeguarding children affected by armed conflicts.

He further highlighted that Doha hosts the Analysis and Outreach Hub of the Office of the Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Children and Armed Conflict.

Al Hardan pointed to the resolution presented by the State of Qatar and the Republic of Costa Rica and adopted by the Human Rights Council at its 60th session on promoting and protecting the human rights of women and children in armed conflict and post-conflict: ensuring justice, remedies, and redress for victims.

He explained that the resolution outlines numerous proposals aimed at strengthening the international legal obligations of parties to conflict to protect the human rights of children affected by armed conflicts, particularly with regard to providing children’s essential needs such as education and health, preventing their involvement in conflicts, and enhancing accountability for violations committed against them.
