HE Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz bin Saleh Al Khulaifi met Sunday with HE Special Envoy of the UN Secretary-General for the Great Lakes Region Huang Xia, who is currently visiting the country.

The meeting discussed peace efforts in the Great Lakes Region, particularly the situation in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and efforts to promote dialogue and achieve peace in the region.

During the meeting, HE the UN Special Envoy for the Great Lakes Region expressed his appreciation for the State of Qatar’s role in supporting the United Nations’ efforts to enhance security and stability in the Great Lakes Region, commending its ongoing contributions to promoting peace and development in the African continent.

Advisor to the Prime Minister and Official Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Majed bin Mohammed Al Ansari met on Sunday with HE Secretary-General of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade of the Republic of Ireland, Joe Hackett, who is visiting the country.

During the meeting, they discussed cooperation relations between the two countries and ways to support and enhance them, in addition to the latest developments in the region, especially in the Gaza Strip, the occupied Palestinian territories and Syria. They also discussed several topics of mutual interest.

The State of Qatar has underlined the importance of sustained technical assistance to enhance Somalia’s human rights capacities and enable it to fulfill its national and international obligations in line with its priorities.

This statement was delivered by Jassim Ibrahim Al Malki, Third Secretary at the Department of Human Rights, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, during the interactive dialogue with the Independent Expert on Somalia. The session was held under Item 10 of the 60th session of the Human Rights Council in Geneva.

Al Malki said that Somalia faces multiple challenges affecting its stability, security, and economic growth, noting that this calls for the solidarity of the international community and the fulfillment of its responsibilities in supporting Somali national processes.

He explained that political reforms are a pivotal pillar in the state-building process, particularly the completion of constitutional amendments, the rebuilding of its institutions, ensuring the rule of law, and the protection and promotion of human rights.

He emphasized that the inclusiveness of this process requires the involvement of all Somali parties, thus strengthening legitimacy and establishing solutions based on national consensus.

He added that on the humanitarian front, Somalia continues to face the effects of drought, food shortages, and internal displacement, necessitating a coordinated international response that links urgent support with development strategies that enhance communities’ resilience and reduce dependence on emergency aid.

Al Malki affirmed that the State of Qatar will continue to provide its humanitarian, relief, and development support, bilaterally and through effective partnerships with the United Nations, reaffirming its unwavering commitment to supporting Somalia in building a strong and stable state.

The meeting reviewed bilateral relations between the two countries and ways to strengthen and expand cooperation, in addition to discussing a number of issues of mutual interest.

The meeting discussed avenues of cooperation and the exchange of expertise, particularly in the field of diplomatic training.

The second round of political consultations between the ministries of foreign affairs in the State of Qatar and the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria was held in the Algerian capital on Thursday.

HE Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Ahmed bin Hassan Al Hammadi, headed the Qatari side, while the Algerian side was headed by HE Secretary-General of Algeria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, Lounes Magramane.

The consultations round focused on the two countries’ cooperation relations and ways to further strengthen and expand them.

The National Committee for the Preparation of the National Human Rights Action Plan (2026-2030) held its second meeting, chaired by Acting Director of the Human Rights Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Vice Chairperson of the Committee Sarah Abdullah Al Saadi.
During the meeting, the Committee reviewed the latest developments in its work related to preparing the national plan. It also discussed the completed phases and upcoming implementation steps, in implementation of the decision of the esteemed Cabinet.
The Committee stressed the importance of continuing coordination and joint efforts to implement the plan, as it is a pivotal national strategy for consolidating the State of Qatar’s commitments in the field of human rights, in line with the priorities of Qatar National Vision 2030.

The Ministry reiterates Qatar’s call on the international community to uphold its moral and legal responsibilities by taking decisive action against the continued violations of international humanitarian law by the Israeli occupation authorities. The Ministry further stresses the importance of ensuring the safe, unimpeded, and sustained delivery of humanitarian aid to all areas of the Gaza Strip.

HE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi met on Wednesday with HE Ambassador of the Republic of Ecuador to Qatar Pascual Del Cioppo, on the occasion of the end of his tenure.
HE the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs extended thanks to HE the Ambassador for his efforts in supporting and strengthening bilateral relations, wishing him success in his new duties.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs describes the order as a reflection of the strong and longstanding ties between Doha and Washington, built on cooperation and partnership in mediation, conflict resolution, and global peace and security. The Ministry adds that the move represents an important step in strengthening the two countries’ close defense partnership .

The Ministry expresses the State of Qatar’s full appreciation for the important US role in consolidating regional peace and reiterates that this step will contribute to strengthening bilateral cooperation in the security and diplomatic fields.

The Ministry affirms that Qatar remains committed to working with the United States and international partners as a trusted mediator to address shared challenges, advance conflict resolution through diplomatic means, and support sustainable peace in the region.
