HE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi received phone calls on Thursday from HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia Tanja Fajon; HE Minister of State and Foreign Affairs of the Portuguese Republic Paulo Rangel; and HE Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Oriental Republic of Uruguay Mario Lubetkin.

During the calls, the parties discussed the developments of the military escalation in the region and its serious repercussions on regional and international security and stability, as well as ways to resolve all disputes through peaceful means.

During the discussions, HE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs stressed that the Iranian attack on Qatari territory constitutes a blatant violation of national sovereignty, is inconsistent with the principles of good neighborliness, and cannot be justified under any pretext. He noted that Qatar has consistently sought to distance itself from regional conflicts and has worked to facilitate dialogue between Iran and the international community. However, he added that the renewed targeting of its territory does not reflect good faith and jeopardizes the foundations of the understandings upon which bilateral relations between the two countries are based.

His Excellency also emphasized the need for an immediate halt to any escalatory actions, a return to the negotiating table, the prioritization of reason and wisdom, and efforts to contain the crisis in a way that preserves regional security.

For their part, HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of Slovenia; HE Minister of State and Foreign Affairs of the Portuguese Republic; and HE Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uruguay condemned the Iranian attack on Qatari territory, describing it as a blatant violation of Qatar’s sovereignty, airspace, international law, and the Charter of the United Nations. 

Qatar Participates in Meeting on Supervision of Ceasefire Between DRC Government, March 23

The State of Qatar participated Thursday in a meeting, via video conference, of the supervision and verification mechanism of the ceasefire stemming from the Declaration of Principles between the Government of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and the Congo River Alliance (March 23) Movement, which was signed in Doha on July 19, 2025.

In a speech during the meeting, Qatar affirmed the need to refrain from taking any escalatory steps or carrying out any measures that may be considered a violation of the ceasefire in the eastern region of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, before formally reporting any concerns or observations through the approved mechanism.

Qatar also stressed the importance of raising all security concerns through the agreed channels, allowing mediators and facilitators the opportunity to address issues and work to resolve them through the agreed peaceful and diplomatic means.

During the meeting, reference was made to the active role played by the Expanded Joint Verification Mechanism (EJVM), with the support of the United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUSCO), in assisting monitoring and verification on the ground.

They also emphasized the need to fully benefit from these mechanisms in a way that contributes to achieving a full and comprehensive ceasefire.

Qatar Condemns Iranian Attack on Buildings in Bahrain Housing Qatari Amiri Naval Forces Personnel

The State of Qatar condemns, in the strongest terms, the Iranian attack that targeted buildings in various areas of the sisterly Kingdom of Bahrain housing personnel from the Qatar Amiri Naval Forces, participating within the Unified Maritime Operations Center affiliated with the Unified Military Command of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), describing it as a blatant act of aggression and a flagrant violation of the sovereignty of the Kingdom of Bahrain and a direct threat to its security and stability as well as the security of the region.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirms the State of Qatar’s full solidarity with the sisterly Kingdom of Bahrain in confronting this attack, stressing that targeting facilities hosting forces operating within the framework of joint Gulf cooperation represents a dangerous escalation that affects the security of GCC states and undermines the principles of good neighborliness and respect for state sovereignty.

The ministry clarifies that the personnel of the Qatar Amiri Naval Forces who were present in the targeted buildings are safe and no injuries were recorded among them.

The Embassy of the State of Qatar in the Kingdom of Bahrain takes the necessary measures to follow up on their situation and ensure their safety, in coordination with the competent authorities in the Kingdom.

In this context, the ministry expresses its appreciation for the cooperation and coordination shown by the relevant authorities in the Kingdom of Bahrain in dealing with this incident and ensuring the safety of those present at the targeted sites.

The ministry renews the State of Qatar’s condemnation of all acts that threaten the security of countries in the region and the safety of their facilities, calling for an end to escalation and adherence to the principles of international law and the Charter of the United Nations in a manner that preserves the security and stability of the region and spares its peoples the risks of further tension.

Minister of State for International Cooperation Receives Phone Call from Canadian Secretary of State for International Development

HE Minister of State for International Cooperation Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser Al Misnad received Thursday a phone call from HE Secretary of State for International Development of Canada Randeep Sarai.

During the call, they discussed the developments of the military escalation in the region and its serious repercussions on security and stability regionally and internationally, and ways to resolve all disputes through peaceful means, and discussed enhancing cooperation in the humanitarian and development fields in the Gaza Strip.

HE the Minister of State for International Cooperation stressed during the call the need for an immediate halt to any escalatory actions, a return to the table of dialogue, prioritizing the language of reason and wisdom, and working to contain the tension in a way that preserves the security of the region.

For his part, HE the Canadian Minister of State for International Development expressed his country’s solidarity with the State of Qatar, stressing the importance of prioritizing diplomatic and peaceful solutions over military solutions.

During the call, the two sides discussed developments related to the military escalation in the region and its serious repercussions on regional and international security and stability, as well as ways to resolve all disputes through peaceful means.

During the call, HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs stressed that the Iranian attack on Qatari territory constitutes a blatant violation of the country’s sovereignty and is inconsistent with the principles of good neighborliness, adding that it cannot be accepted under any justification or pretext. In this context, His Excellency noted that Qatar has consistently sought to distance itself from regional conflicts and has worked to facilitate dialogue between the Iranian side and the international community. However, he added that the renewed targeting of its territory does not reflect good faith and jeopardizes the foundations of the understandings upon which bilateral relations between the two countries are based.

Qatar Sends Fourth Identical Letter to UN, Security Council Regarding Latest Developments of Iranian Attack on its Territories

The State of Qatar has sent a fourth identical letter to HE Secretary-General of the United Nations Antonio Guterres, and HE Permanent Representative of the United States of America to the United Nations and President of the Security Council for the month of March Michael Waltz, regarding the latest developments of the Iranian attack on its territories.

This attack constitutes a blatant violation of its national sovereignty, a direct infringement upon its security and territorial integrity, and an unacceptable escalation that threatens the security and stability of the region.
The letter was sent by HE Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations Sheikha Alya Ahmed bin Saif Al-Thani.

The letter noted the continued attacks targeting Qatari territories, explaining that “the Ministry of Defense of the State of Qatar announced on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, that the State of Qatar was attacked at dawn on Wednesday by (10) drones and two cruise missiles from the Islamic Republic of Iran. The Qatari Amiri Air Defense Forces successfully intercepted (6) drones, while the Qatari Amiri Air Force successfully intercepted two drones and two cruise missiles, and the Qatari Amiri Naval Forces successfully intercepted the remaining two drones.

In addition, the State of Qatar was attacked on Tuesday by two ballistic missiles from the Islamic Republic of Iran. The air defense systems successfully intercepted one of the missiles, while the second missile targeted the Qatari Al Udeid Air Base without causing any casualties.”

The letter explained that, as a result of these attacks, QatarEnergy announced on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, that it had notified affected purchasing customers of a force majeure declaration. This followed its announcement on Monday of a halt in liquefied natural gas (LNG) and related product production due to a military attack on its operational facilities in Ras Laffan Industrial City and Mesaieed Industrial City, and its subsequent announcement on Tuesday of a halt in production of certain chemical, petrochemical, and downstream products, including urea, polymers, methanol, and aluminum.

The letter added that on Tuesday, as part of ongoing efforts to protect the security and stability of the State of Qatar, the competent authorities were able to arrest two cells operating on behalf of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps in the State of Qatar.

Careful monitoring and follow-up operations led to the arrest of ten suspects. Seven of them had been assigned espionage tasks to collect information on the country’s vital and military facilities, while three others had been tasked with carrying out acts of sabotage and had received training in the use of drones. Authorities also found in their possession locations and coordinates of sensitive facilities and sites, as well as communication tools and technical devices.

The letter stated that the accused confessed during the investigations to their affiliation with the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps and their assignment to carry out espionage and sabotage missions.

The letter continued, stating that all damages and losses resulting from the attacks will be assessed by the relevant authorities, adding that it will keep them informed of developments.

In this context, the State of Qatar reiterated its strong condemnation of this attack and affirmed its full right to respond in accordance with Article 51 of the Charter of the United Nations and in a manner commensurate with the nature of the aggression, in defense of its sovereignty and to safeguard its security and national interests.

The State of Qatar called for circulating this communication as an official Security Council document.

Minister of State for International Cooperation Receives Phone Call from French Minister Delegate for Francophonie

During the call, they discussed the developments of the military escalation in the region and its serious repercussions on security and stability regionally and internationally, and ways to resolve all disputes through peaceful means.

HE the Minister of State for International Cooperation affirmed during the call that the Iranian attack on Qatari territory constitutes a flagrant violation of its sovereignty and is inconsistent with the principles of good neighborliness, and cannot be accepted under any justification or pretext.

She noted in this context that the State of Qatar has always been keen to distance itself from regional conflicts and has sought to facilitate dialogue between the Iranian side and the international community. HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani received a phone call on Thursday from HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Moldova, Mihai Popsoi.

The two officials discussed the recent military escalation in the region and its serious implications for regional and international security, as well as ways to resolve disputes through peaceful means.
During the call, HE Sheikh Mohammed described the Iranian attack on Qatari territory as a blatant violation of the State of Qatar’s sovereignty. He stressed that such actions are incompatible with the principles of good neighborliness and cannot be justified under any pretext.

He added that Qatar has consistently sought to remain outside regional conflicts and facilitate dialogue between Iran and the international community, but repeated attacks on its territory undermine the foundations of bilateral relations.

HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs also called for an immediate end to escalatory actions, a return to dialogue, and the prioritization of reason and diplomacy to contain the crisis and safeguard regional security.

Qatar Condemns Iranian Attacks Targeting Turkiye and Azerbaijan

The State of Qatar strongly condemns attempts to target the Republic of Turkiye with a ballistic missile and an airport in the Republic of Azerbaijan using Iranian drones.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs describes the incidents as a “dangerous escalation” and a “blatant violation of state sovereignty”, warning that they threaten regional security and stability.

The ministry says the attacks were part of a series of “reckless” actions by the Islamic Republic of Iran.

It adds that Iran’s continued opening of new fronts and expansion of tensions with neighboring countries represents a serious risk to the stability of the region.

Qatar calls on Iran to immediately stop “irresponsible policies that undermine regional security”, advising it to prioritize the interests of the region’s people and adhere to the principles of good neighborliness and international law.

The State of Qatar reaffirms its full solidarity with Turkiye and Azerbaijan, and its support for measures taken by both countries to safeguard their sovereignty, security and territorial integrity.
