Geneva, February 26, 2026

The State of Qatar has called for an end to the protection and support provided to Israel, urging the international community to take all necessary measures to ensure accountability for crimes and human rights violations against the Palestinian people.

The statement was delivered by HE Dr Hind Abdulrahman Al Muftah, Qatar’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office in Geneva, during an interactive dialogue on the High Commissioner’s remarks on the human rights situation in the occupied Palestinian territories, including East Jerusalem. The session was held as part of the 61st regular session of the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva.

HE Al Muftah said the world was witnessing daily scenes of grave crimes and violations committed by Israeli forces against Palestinians in the occupied territories and the Gaza Strip.

She cited killings, starvation, mass forced displacement, the suffering of women and children, and the targeting of civilian facilities, schools, hospitals and journalists, as well as the destruction and confiscation of property, arbitrary arrests and torture. She also referred to policies of apartheid and ethnic cleansing, saying the situation had reached an unprecedented level of severity and had rendered Gaza uninhabitable, in violation of international law.

The State of Qatar urged the international community to move beyond “double standards” and assume its legal and moral responsibilities to protect the Palestinian people, end the Israeli occupation and advance the peace process. It reiterated support for the Palestinians’ right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent, fully sovereign state on the June 4, 1967 borders.

The statement emphasized Qatar’s firm belief that constructive dialogue is the best path toward achieving peace.

Geneva, February 26, 2026

The State of Qatar reiterated its firm and supportive stance on the unity and territorial integrity of Sudan, and the right of its fraternal people to live in dignity, security and stability, and rejected any form of interference in its internal affairs, voicing deep concern over the continuation of the war and the accompanying crimes and grave human rights violations, which have led to the loss of thousands of Sudanese lives and property and the displacement of millions of them, in addition to the unprecedented destruction of infrastructure.

This came in a statement by the State of Qatar, delivered by Second Secretary at the Permanent Delegation of the State of Qatar to the United Nations Office in Geneva Sheikh Sultan bin Khalid Al-Thani, during his participation in the enhanced interactive dialogue on Sudan, within the framework of the 61st session of the Human Rights Council in Geneva.

He said that the fraternal Sudanese people can no longer bear to wait any longer for a solution, and that urgent action is necessary to put an end to this war. There is no way to do this except by conducting a comprehensive and rational dialogue to reach an agreement that restores security and stability to Sudan and spares it further destruction and division.

He emphasized that the State of Qatar, since the beginning of the crisis, has been keen to provide all forms of support and humanitarian assistance to alleviate the suffering of the Sudanese people in this critical humanitarian situation. He noted that, in continuation of these efforts, on Feb. 9, a convoy of medical grants provided by the Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) in cooperation with the Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) was sent to provide urgent needs of emergency and life-saving medicines, in addition to other batches to follow, with the number of beneficiaries estimated at half a million people in 12 Sudanese states.

Geneva, February 25, 2026

The State of Qatar participated in the High-Level Segment of the Conference on Disarmament held in Geneva.

Qatar was represented at the event by Deputy Permanent Representative of the Permanent Delegation of the State of Qatar to the UN Office in Geneva Jawhara bint Abdulaziz Al Suwaidi.

Al Suwaidi affirmed that the international system is going through a critical phase marked by the increasing number of armed conflicts, declining commitment to international law and the Charter of the United Nations, rising polarization and geopolitical competition, as well as the acceleration of nuclear modernization programs and the integration of emerging technologies into military systems, in addition to the growing risks of the weaponization of outer space.

She stressed that these developments place the disarmament and non-proliferation architecture before unprecedented challenges.

Al Suwaidi expressed the State of Qatar’s strong condemnation of the continued Israeli aggression and crimes committed against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, including the targeting of civilians and vital facilities, the imposition of restrictions on the delivery of humanitarian assistance, and the use of heavy and internationally prohibited weapons.

She explained that 2026 represents an important milestone for the global nuclear order with the convening of the Eleventh Review Conference of the Parties to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, which constitutes the cornerstone of the global nuclear non-proliferation regime and the fundamental basis for pursuing nuclear disarmament. She stressed that disarmament is not merely a political option, but a humanitarian, security, and developmental necessity.

Al Suwaidi affirmed that the establishment of a Middle East free of nuclear weapons and other weapons of mass destruction remains an urgent priority to enhance regional security and stability, reiterating the State of Qatar’s support for United Nations efforts in this regard.

The Deputy Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar in Geneva renewed Qatar’s commitment to the principles and objectives of disarmament and nuclear non-proliferation, the promotion of international security, and its support for international mechanisms aimed at disarmament, given their essential role in strengthening peace and security at both the regional and international levels.

Geneva, February 24, 2026

The State of Qatar took part Tuesday in a high-profile side event on advancing social rights and democratic stability, on the sidelines of the 61st session of the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva.

Representing the State of Qatar was HE Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the UN Office in Geneva, Dr. Hind bint Abdulrahman Al Muftah.

The event was organized by the Council of Europe, in collaboration with the International Labour Organization (ILO) and the Permanent Missions of the State of Qatar, the Republic of Portugal, and the Republic of Moldova to the United Nations in Geneva, with the support of the European Union and a host of partner nations.

HE Dr. Al Muftah affirmed that hosting the Second World Summit for Social Development in Doha, thirty years after the first summit in Copenhagen, holds meaningful significance, emphasizing that throughout the past two decades, the State of Qatar has pursued a strategic diplomacy to host major events, fora, and high-level multilateral summits to be hosted and led as a lynchpin for its foreign policy aimed at reinforcing cooperation and international partnerships, as well as having a neutral platform for dialogue in place.

In today’s world, issues that are debated in the State of Qatar extend beyond, encompassing negotiation on building and peacemaking agreements, digital technology subjects, keeping a lid on the detrimental effects of climate change, as well as strengthening efforts to achieve development, Dr. Al Muftah underlined.

She highlighted that the purpose of these meetings lies in exploring practical and enduring solutions that would make the world the best place to live.

The representative further pointed out that the State of Qatar looks forward to transforming the Doha Political Declaration from mere pledges into measurable procedures that are literally focused on ending poverty, ensuring decent work, and building just and sustainable societies, including enhancing international cooperation in financing, harnessing digital innovation to make social services more inclusive, efficient, and equitable, as well as ensuring the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

These matters, Dr. Al Muftah underscored, are executed through concrete policies and programs that place humans at their core priorities with the objective of achieving social justice and improving living standards, especially since less than four years remain to deliver on the promises of the Sustainable Development Goals 2030 (SDGs).

She stressed that without meaningful social justice; there can be neither lasting peace nor sustainable development.
