HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani met on Tuesday with HE Minister of Foreign Affairs of the sisterly Kingdom of Bahrain Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, who is visiting the country.
The meeting addressed bilateral cooperation and ways to further strengthen and develop it, as well as a number of issues of mutual interest.

Minister of State at Ministry of Foreign Affairs Meets Special Envoy of French President

HE Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz bin Saleh Al Khulaifi met on Tuesday with HE Special Envoy of the French President, Paul Soler, who is currently visiting the country.
The meeting reviewed the latest developments in the Gaza Strip and the occupied Palestinian territories in light of the ceasefire agreement, as well as the situation in Sudan, Libya, and Chad. The two sides also discussed a number of issues of mutual interest.

Qatar Selected to Host Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction in 2028

The United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) in Geneva has announced the selection of the State of Qatar to host the 9th Session of the Ninth Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction (GP2028), in recognition of the country’s capabilities and commitment to supporting the international agenda for disaster risk reduction.
HE Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations Office in Geneva, Dr. Hind Abdulrahman Al Muftah, said, “The State of Qatar is honored to host the Ninth Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction in 2028. This historic milestone reflects our steadfast commitment to advancing resilience, safeguarding communities, and contributing meaningfully to global efforts at a pivotal moment before the conclusion of the Sendai Framework. We look forward to welcoming partners from around the world to Doha, where together we will accelerate collective action, address emerging risks, and help shape the next chapter of international cooperation for a safer and more resilient future.”
Qatar’s selection was widely welcomed given its vision, capabilities, and dedication to advancing the global disaster risk reduction agenda, as well as its strong political leadership and support for UN agencies and multilateral action.
The GP2028 will be held at a crucial juncture, five years after the mid-term review of the Sendai Framework and two years before its conclusion in 2030, giving the upcoming session strategic importance in shaping the post-2030 vision for disaster risk reduction.
The platform will also represent a pivotal opportunity for the international community to chart a course for disaster risk reduction that goes beyond current frameworks, with Qatar playing a central role in this global endeavor.

Minister of State at Foreign Ministry Meets Omani Foreign Minister

HE Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz bin Saleh Al Khulaifi, met on Sunday with HE Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Sultanate of Oman, Badr bin Hamad bin Hamoud Al Busaidi, in Muscat.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed bilateral relations and ways to support and strengthen them, particularly in the areas of mediation and conflict resolution.
They also discussed the latest developments in the region, especially in the Gaza Strip and the occupied Palestinian territories, in addition to several other issues of mutual concern.

Qatar Participates in Core Focus Group Meeting within Global Coalition Against ISIS

The State of Qatar participated in the Core Focus Group meeting within the Global Coalition Against ISIS, held in Abu Dhabi, with broad participation from international bodies concerned with combating terrorism.
The State of Qatar was represented by HE Special Envoy of the Minister of Foreign Affairs Ambassador Faisal bin Abdullah Al Hanzab.
His Excellency expressed appreciation for the efforts made to organize this meeting during his speech and affirmed the State of Qatars full support for the work of the Core Focus Group in preventing the resurgence of ISIS in Syria and Iraq, through strengthening civil cooperation in combating terrorism, supporting rehabilitation and reintegration efforts, and countering the organizations financing, movements and propaganda.
His Excellency reiterated the State of Qatars firm commitment to the mission and objectives of the global coalition, and its support for all efforts to mobilize all necessary resources to enhance security and stability in both the sisterly Syrian Arab Republic and the sisterly Republic of Iraq.

Qatar Urges Swift Implementation of UN Security Council Resolution, Full Israeli Withdrawal from Gaza

The State of Qatar has called for the prompt and sincere implementation of United Nations Security Council Resolution No. 2803, issued on November 17, 2025.
The resolution calls for the complete withdrawal of Israel from Gaza, the establishment of a local government composed of Gazans, and the initiation of reconstruction efforts, seen as a first step toward realizing the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.
This came in a statement delivered by HE Ambassador of the State of Qatar and its Permanent Representative to the UN and International Organizations in Vienna Jassim Yacoub Al Hammadi, before the session of theآ Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) held in Vienna, addressing the situation in Palestine.
His Excellency highlighted the dire conditions in the occupied Palestinian territories, condemning the continued killing and displacement of Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza by Israeli occupation forces, as well as the violence perpetrated by settlers with the support of the Israeli government. He urged the international community to fulfill its responsibility to end the Israeli occupation of Palestinian and other Arab territories and to support the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
He stressed that war crimes, crimes against humanity, and acts of genocide committed against the Palestinian people do not expire with time, calling for accountability for the perpetrators and urging relevant international organizations to fulfill their roles in this regard.
His Excellency also appealed to all countries and humanitarian and relief organizations, especially the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), to expedite the delivery of humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people to alleviate the catastrophic conditions they are enduring under siege and occupation.

UNGA Third Committee Adopts Resolution Following Qatar-Facilitated Consultations

The Third Committee of the United Nations General Assembly, responsible for social, humanitarian, and cultural affairs, unanimously adopted the resolution titled “Preparatory Procedures for Marking the 30th Anniversary of the International Year of the Family”.
The State of Qatar facilitated the consultations on the draft resolution, represented by Sheikha Al Maha bint Mubarak Al Thani, Second Secretary at Qatar Permanent Mission to the UN in New York.
In its resolution, the Committee affirmed that provisions related to the family, stemming from major UN conferences and summits and their follow-up processes, continue to provide guidance on public policy for strengthening family-oriented elements in policies and programs, considering them part of a comprehensive and integrated development approach.
The resolution further encourages member states to invest in in these policies and programs, as well as to promote enhanced intergenerational interaction, including intergenerational living arrangements and parenting education, to advance inclusive urbanization for all, active ageing, intergenerational solidarity, and social cohesion.
It also encourages governments to continue their efforts to implement the objectives of the International Year of the Family, in addition to developing strategies and programs aimed at strengthening national capacities to address priorities relating to family issues.
At the final session of the committee, the representative of the Republic of Iraq, in its capacity as the country that submitted this year draft resolution on behalf of the G77 and China, expressed gratitude to the State of Qatar for the steadfast efforts of Sheikha Al Maha in facilitating the negotiations and bridging viewpoints to reach consensus.
Since 2004, Qatar has consistently forged ahead in facilitating negotiations on draft resolutions on behalf of the G77 and China, including during Qatar chairmanship of the G77 and China in 2004.

Qatar Hosts Event for Group of Friends of Sport for Development and Peace in Partnership with Monaco

The Permanent Mission of the State of Qatar to the United Nations, in partnership with the Permanent Mission of the Principality of Monaco to the United Nations, organized an interactive dialogue for the Group of Friends of Sport for Development and Peace.

The event was held at the UN Headquarters in New York, with both missions serving as co-chairs of the group. It featured the participation of HE President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Kirsty Coventry, marking her first engagement with the Group of Friends since assuming office in June of this year, and HE President of the Organizing Committee for Milano-Cortina 2026 Giovanni Malago.

In her opening remarks, HE Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations Sheikha Alya Ahmed bin Saif Al-Thani congratulated HE Coventry on assuming the presidency of the International Olympic Committee. She affirmed that the Group of Friends looks forward to strengthening close cooperation with the IOC under her leadership to advance the global agenda of sport for development and peace. Her Excellency also welcomed HE Malago and thanked him for participating in this important dialogue.

Her Excellency stressed that the meeting comes at a significant moment, as Qatar had hosted the Second World Summit for Social Development only weeks earlier. During that summit, world leaders adopted the Doha Political Declaration, which reaffirmed the transformative role of sport as a tool for promoting inclusion, social cohesion, and sustainable development.

HE the Permanent Representative expressed gratitude to the Qatar Olympic Committee for its vital role in advancing Qatar National Vision 2030, which places human development at its core and emphasizes investment in sport as a driver of growth.

Her Excellency also noted that, on the same day, the UN General Assembly adopted the resolution entitled “Building a Peaceful and Better World through Sport and the Olympic Ideal.” She underlined that this resolution remains a powerful symbol of unity and a reminder that sport creates spaces for dialogue and enables countries to come together around shared values, even in times of global tension. She added that the resolution reconfirms the essential role of sport in education, inclusion, and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.

For her part, HE the President of the International Olympic Committee said that the IOC’s engagement in UN-driven sport initiatives is an extension of its mission to promote Olympic values founded on excellence, respect, and friendship. She noted that the IOC works with the United Nations and Member States through its programs and partners to expand initiatives that target youth and marginalized groups, and she emphasized the importance of creating safe environments that allow everyone to participate in sports activities.

Her Excellency expressed her appreciation to the State of Qatar Qatar and Monaco for their leadership in supporting sport as a means to implement the Sustainable Development Goals, highlighting the importance Qatar places on major sporting events. She affirmed that Qatar today stands as a model in hosting global sports events.

HE Malago said that preparations for hosting the Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics are heavily focused on integrating social and environmental dimensions at all stages of planning and implementation. He emphasized that the Olympic event will provide a platform to showcase how sport can strengthen solidarity among youth and nations.

The meeting witnessed wide participation from UN officials and representatives of Member States, who discussed the role of sport in achieving development and peace. They emphasized the importance of continued multilateral cooperation to expand the role of sport in promoting social inclusion and advancing the Sustainable Development Goals. 

Qatar, Kazakhstan Hold Political Consultations Round

The third round of political consultations between the Foreign Ministries of the State of Qatar and the Republic of Kazakhstan was held Thursday in Astana.
HE Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr. Ahmed bin Hassan Al Hammadi chaired the State of Qatar’s side, while HE Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Alibek Bakayev chaired Kazakhstan’s side.
The consultations round discussed relations between the two countries and ways to support and strengthen them.
