Qatar announces the success of a new stage of its mediation mission to reunite children with their families in Ukraine and Russia

The State of Qatar announces the success of its mediation efforts to reunite children with their families who were separated as a result of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine — this July, as part of its ongoing efforts to reunite families, new reunifications have taken place.

 The Ministry of Foreign Affairs indicates that, as part of the new stage of the humanitarian mission, 11 children have been reunited with their relatives in Ukraine, and 3 children have returned to their relatives in Russia, bringing the total number of children reunited with their families since the commencement of Qatar’s mediation efforts to 100 children.

In this context, His Excellency Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz bin Saleh Al-Khulaifi, Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, affirmed that the State of Qatar’s ongoing efforts to reunite children with their families in Ukraine and Russia represent an extension of its approach to mediation and conflict resolution through peaceful means, in accordance with the principles of international law. He also emphasized that these efforts also reflect Qatar’s steadfast commitment to humanitarian principles and international solidarity.

His Excellency also expressed the State of Qatar’s appreciation to Her Excellency Ms. Maria Lvova-Belova, Commissioner for Children’s Rights to the President of the Russian Federation, and His Excellency Mr. Dmytro Lubinets, Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights, for their tireless efforts that contributed to the success of the endeavors aimed at reuniting separated families.

HE Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz bin Saleh Al Khulaifi met on Thursday with HE Presidential Envoy and Senior Advisor for Africa at the US Department of State Massad Boulos, who is currently visiting the country.

During the meeting, the two sides reviewed the close strategic relations between the State of Qatar and the United States and discussed ways to support and enhance them. They also discussed joint efforts to address the situation in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo, along with a number of issues of mutual interest.

HE Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz bin Saleh Al Khulaifi affirmed that the State of Qatar is following with deep concern the developments in the city of As-Suwayda in southern Syria, out of the firm belief that Syria’s security is an integral part of the region’s stability.

In a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA), His Excellency called for all necessary measures to ensure such crimes are not repeated, including holding accountable all parties responsible for the shedding of civilian blood and the terrorizing of innocent, unarmed individuals, especially children, women, and the elderly, and ensuring that those who committed these heinous crimes do not escape punishment.

His Excellency further emphasized the importance of intensifying efforts to strengthen civil peace through dialogue and peaceful means.

His Excellency expressed the State of Qatar’s condemnation of the Israeli attacks on the city of As-Suwayda, describing them as blatant violations of Syria’s sovereignty, international law, and the United Nations Charter, and a serious threat to regional security.

His Excellency also reaffirmed the State of Qatar’s full support for Syria’s sovereignty, independence, territorial integrity, and the aspirations of its brotherly people for a dignified life.

Qatar and Tajikistan Convenes Round of Political Consultations

The fourth round of political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar and the Republic of Tajikistan was held in Doha on Tuesday.

The Qatari side was chaired by HE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi, while that of Tajikistan was headed by HE Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Farrukh Sharifzoda.

During the political consultations, they reviewed cooperation relations between the two countries and ways to support and strengthen them, in addition to a number of topics of common interest.

Qatari Citizens Exempt from Entry Visas to Peru

An official source at the Department of Consular Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) announced that Qatari citizens are now exempt from entry visa requirements for the Republic of Peru, for a maximum stay of 183 days, counted from the date of entry.

The permitted stay may consist of either a single continuous visit or multiple visits within one year, provided that the passport is valid for at least six months, the source explained.

Discussion during the meeting dealt with cooperation relations between the two countries and ways to support and enhance them. The two sides also discussed the State of Qatar’s efforts to reunite Ukrainian children with their families, as part of its ongoing mediation aimed at reuniting families separated by the Russian-Ukrainian crisis. A host of development matters of common interest were also discussed.

During the meeting, HE the Minister of State for International Cooperation affirmed Qatar’s full support for international efforts aimed at finding a peaceful solution to the Russian-Ukrainian crisis through dialogue and diplomatic means.

The State of Qatar participated in the Ukraine Recovery Conference 2025, currently underway in the Italian capital, Rome.

HE Minister of State for International Cooperation Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser Al Misnad lead the Qatari delegation to the conference.

The conference discusses several key topics, foremost among them mobilizing international support for reconstruction and reform in Ukraine, including the provision of urgent aid, implementation of rapid recovery projects, attracting investments, and effective participation in reconstruction and social revitalization, particularly in the fields of education, healthcare, and social services.
