Qatar, Bulgaria Hold Round of Political Consultation

A round of political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar and the Republic of Bulgaria was held in Sofia today.

HE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Sultan bin Saad Al-Muraikhi headed the Qatari side, while HE Bulgarian side was headed by HE Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Maria Angelieva.

The political consultations round dealt with cooperation relations between the two countries and ways to support and enhance them, in addition to a host of topics of common interest.

The State of Qatar expresses its full solidarity with the friendly United States in the face of the devastating floods that swept through the state of Texas, which resulted in loss of life, injuries, and several missing persons.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expresses the State of Qatar’s sincere condolences to the families of the victims, as well as to the government and people of the United States of America. It also conveys Qatar’s wishes for a speedy recovery for the injured and the safe return of those missing.

Qatar Affirms Keenness to Enhance Cooperation with Office of High Commissioner for Human Rights

The State of Qatar has affirmed keenness to enhance its cooperation with the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) and support it in fulfilling its mandate with regard to providing technical assistance and capacity building.

This came in the State of Qatar’s statement delivered by Second Secretary at the Permanent Mission of the State of Qatar to the United Nations Office in Geneva Abdulaziz Al Mansouri, during his participation in the annual panel discussion on technical cooperation and capacity building during the 59th Session of the Human Rights Council in Geneva, entitled “Technical assistance and capacity building – item 10.”

Al Mansouri highlighted the State of Qatar’s keenness to contribute to the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) to implement several programs, including the work of the United Nations Training and Documentation Centre in Doha.

He emphasized the importance of giving equal attention to all human rights, political, civil, economic, social, cultural, and the right to development, and treating them equally, within the framework of objective dialogue and positive, constructive cooperation.

He highlighted the importance of basing technical support and capacity building on countries’ priorities and needs, taking into account their national and regional specificities.

He considered the opening of the United Nations House in Doha, which houses a number of UN offices and agencies, an important step in strengthening multilateral international cooperation through the implementation of programs focused on technical cooperation and capacity building in various fields.

Abdulaziz Al Mansouri highlighted the importance of technical cooperation and capacity building in assisting countries and relevant national mechanisms, particularly national human rights institutions, to support their efforts and enhance their capabilities to carry out their mandates in promoting and protecting human rights.

President of Venezuela Meets Minister of State at Ministry of Foreign Affairs

HE President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela Nicolas Maduro met today in Caracas with HE Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz bin Saleh Al Khulaifi.

The meeting discussed aspects of cooperation between the two countries and ways to enhance and promote them, in addition to the latest regional and international developments, particularly in Latin America, the Gaza Strip and the occupied Palestinian territories. Discussions also addressed the joint Qatari mediation efforts aimed at achieving a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, as well as a range of issues of mutual interest.

HE the Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized the State of Qatar’s commitment to enhancing its partnership with the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in all areas. He also underscored the importance of intensifying joint efforts to promote stability throughout the Latin American region.

The meeting discussed aspects of cooperation between the two countries and ways to strengthen and enhance them, particularly in the economic and development fields. Discussions also covered the Qatari mediation efforts in the Gaza Strip, the latest developments in the Middle East and Latin America, and a number of topics of common interest.

Special Envoy of Minister of Foreign Affairs Meets Several Officials on Margin of Doha Process on Afghanistan Meeting

HE Special Envoy of the Minister of Foreign Affairs Ambassador Faisal bin Abdullah Al Hanzab met separately with HE Special Assistant to the Prime Minister, Minister of State, and Special Representative of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan for Afghanistan Muhammad Sadiq, HE Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Afghanistan and Head of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan Roza Isakovna Otunbayeva, HE Assistant Secretary-General for Humanitarian, Cultural and Social Affairs of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and Special Envoy to Afghanistan Tariq Ali Bakheet, World Bank’s Country Director for Afghanistan Faris Hadad, on the margin of the meetings of the working groups of the Doha Process on Afghanistan.

The meetings discussed cooperation relations and ways to support and develop them. They also discussed developments in Afghanistan and strengthening efforts to advance the UN-led Doha Process on Afghanistan.

Qatar Participates in Meetings of Doha Process Working Groups on Afghanistan

The State of Qatar participated in the meetings of the working groups of the Doha Process on Afghanistan, led by the United Nations, which were held in Doha from June 30 to July 1.

HE Special Envoy of the Minister of Foreign Affairs Ambassador Faisal bin Abdullah Al Hanzab represented the State of Qatar at the meetings.

In a speech during the meeting, HE the Special Envoy of the Minister of Foreign Affairs reiterated the State of Qatar’s unwavering commitment to the Afghan people, to establishing security and stability, achieving national reconciliation, and building the Afghan state.

His Excellency affirmed the State of Qatar’s full readiness to continue working with its regional and international partners to achieve sustainable peace in Afghanistan and support Afghan national institutions to serve the aspirations of the Afghan people. 

Qatar Participates in 131st Session of Permanent Council of La Francophonie

The State of Qatar participated in the 131st Session of the Permanent Council of La Francophonie, held in Paris.

HE Qatar’s Ambassador to the French Republic and its Representative to the Organization, Sheikh Ali bin Jassim Al-Thani represented the State of Qatar at the session .

In her opening remarks, HE Secretary-General of the International Organization of La Francophonie, Louise Mushikiwabo praised the State of Qatar’s role in mediating between the Republic of Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo to reach a peaceful solution to the conflict in eastern DRC. She expressed her gratitude to Qatar for its contribution to establishing security and peace at the regional and international levels.

Participants in the session discussed the outcomes of the 19th La Francophonie Summit, held in France in October 2024, and the preparations for the 46th Session of the La Francophonie Ministerial Conference, slated for November in Kigali, Rwanda. 

Qatar, European External Action Service Hold Round of Political Consultations

The 4th round of political consultationsآ between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the European External Action Service (EEAS) was held Thursday in Doha.

The Qatari side was headed by HE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi, and the European side was headed by HE EEAS Deputy Secretary-General for Political Affairs Olof Skoog.

The political consultations discussed cooperation relations and ways to support and enhance them.
