President of the Republic of Seychelles, Dr Patrick Herminie, has extended his heartfelt condolences to the family, friends and loved ones of well-known Seychellois, Mr Alexander Pierre, following his passing this morning. Mr Pierre would have celebrated his 55th birthday on 3 September.
Mr Pierre was born in Seychelles and left for the United Kingdom at the age of ten. He returned to Seychelles 30 years ago and went on to build a life and career in his homeland.
He is remembered as a kind and calm man who loved life, and as a man of principle who fought hard for what he believed in. Over the years he built countless friendships across Seychelles and the UK, and he will be sadly missed by his father, sister, and his wider family and friends.
President Herminie described Mr Pierre as a man who had an immense love for his country and its people, and who always had the future of Seychelles at heart, without political consideration.
The President also spoke of his close personal relationship with Mr Pierre, especially during his time as President of the United Seychelles. He described him as a dear friend with whom he had shared a close bond over the years.
“I will miss my personal friend. We fought the biggest battle together, but sadly he has lost the battle, fighting for his life,” the President said, expressing his deep personal sorrow at the loss of his friend.
Mr Pierre passed away this morning surrounded by the love and care of his family and loved ones.
On behalf of the Government and people of Seychelles, President Herminie extends his deepest condolences to the family, friends and loved ones of Mr Alexander Pierre during this profoundly difficult time. He joins them in mourning the loss of a beloved family member, dear friend and fellow Seychellois.
