Minister of State for International Cooperation Meets with UN Deputy Special Representative for Afghanistan

HE Minister of State for International Cooperation, Dr. Mariam bint Ali bin Nasser Al Misnad, met on Thursday with HE Deputy Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Afghanistan and Resident Coordinator for Humanitarian Affairs, Nderika Ratwathe, who is currently visiting the country.

During the meeting, they reviewed the cooperation between the State of Qatar and the United Nations and discussed ways to support and strengthen it, particularly in humanitarian and development fields in Afghanistan.

HE Minister of State for International Cooperation affirmed that Doha would remain a platform for dialogue and a logistical, political, and humanitarian partner for the United Nations to facilitate its missions in Afghanistan.

She also reiterated Qatar’s firm stance in support of the brotherly Afghan people, stressing the significance of continued international efforts to provide urgent humanitarian aid and support the health, education, and economic empowerment sectors in Afghanistan.

Qatar Affirms Continued Efforts With International Partners to Consolidate Security, Stability in Region

The State of Qatar affirmed its continued efforts with international partners to consolidate security and stability in the region, as well as to continue supporting the brotherly Palestinian people until they obtain all their legitimate rights, foremost among them their right to self-determination, ending the occupation, halting the settlement activities, and establishing their fully sovereign and viable independent state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem (Al-Quds) as its capital, in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions and the two-state solution principle.
This came in the State of Qatar’s statement delivered by HE Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations Sheikha Alya Ahmed bin Saif Al-Thani, during the Security Council’s quarterly open debate on ‘The situation in the Middle East, including the Palestinian question,’ held at the UN headquarters in New York.
Her Excellency pointed out the announcement of the second phase of the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, expressing the State of Qatar’s hope that this will contribute to consolidating the truce and addressing the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Gaza.
Alongside eight Arab and Islamic countries that participated in the multilateral summit with US President Donald Trump, Qatar announced its accession to the Peace Council, affirming its support for the implementation of the council’s mission as a transitional body, as stated in the comprehensive plan adopted by Security Council Resolution 2803, with the aim of establishing a permanent ceasefire, reconstruction, and advancing towards a just and lasting peace based on the right of the brotherly Palestinian people to self-determination and the establishment of their state in accordance with international law, Her Excellency said.
She also noted that the State of Qatar welcomed the coordination with mediators; the Arab Republic of Egypt and the Republic of Turkiye, in forming the Palestinian technocratic committee to administer the Gaza Strip, expressing hope that this would pave the way for the implementation of the second phase of the agreement.
HE Qatar’s Permanent Representative to the UN emphasized that, through its representative on the Gaza Executive Board, the State of Qatar would continue to contribute to efforts aimed at establishing effective governance and promoting peace and stability in the Gaza Strip.
She also stressed the importance of implementing Security Council Resolution 2803 to ensure a comprehensive and sustainable ceasefire, the delivery of sufficient humanitarian aid without restrictions or impediments, the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip, a complete Israeli withdrawal from Gaza, and the prevention of the displacement of the Palestinian people.
Her Excellency pointed out the urgent need to immediately expand early recovery efforts, lift restrictions on the entry and distribution of essential supplies, rehabilitate infrastructure and hospitals, and open the Rafah crossing in both directions, as stipulated in the comprehensive plan.
There is no alternative to the effective implementation of the agreement, HE Sheikha Alya said, expressing the State of Qatar’s condemnation of the Israeli occupation’s attacks on the Gaza Strip, considering them a dangerous escalation. She further stressed the need for concerted regional and international efforts to preserve the agreement and ensure adherence to it.
HE Qatar’s Permanent Representative to the UN reiterated Qatar’s support for Syria’s sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity, and its condemnation of the Israeli bombing and incursions that violate Syrian sovereignty and international law and undermine efforts to establish peace in the region.
HE Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations Sheikha Alya Ahmed bin Saif Al-Thani affirmed the State of Qatar’s position supporting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Lebanese Republic, condemning the Israeli raid on Ain Al Hilwehآ Palestinian refugee camp, considering it an attack on the defenseless Palestinian people, a violation of Lebanese sovereignty, and a breach of international law.

Qatar Participates in Eighth Meeting of Global Alliance for Implementation of Two State Solution

The State of Qatar participated in the eighth meeting of the Global Alliance for the Implementation of theآ Two State Solution, held in Dublin, Ireland.
In the meeting, the State of Qatar was represented by HE Director of Arab Affairs Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Nayef  bin Abdullah Al Emadi.
During the meeting, international efforts to support the implementation of the two-state solution were discussed, in addition to Ireland’s experience in the peace process and ways to translate the commitments in the New York Declaration into tangible actions.

HH the Amir Sends Written Message to Korean President

HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani has sent a written message to HE President of the Republic of Korea, Lee Jae Myung, pertaining to bilateral relations and ways to strengthen them.

The message was handed over by HE Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz bin Saleh Al Khulaifi, during his meeting today in Seoul with HE the Korean President.

At the beginning of the meeting, HE Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs conveyed HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani’s greetings and wishes of good health and happiness to HE the Korean President, and for the government and people of Korea, enduring progress and prosperity.

For his part, HE the Korean President entrusted HE the Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with his greetings to HH the Amir, wishing His Highness enduring success and the State of Qatar further progress and prosperity.

During the meeting, both sides discussed advancing bilateral cooperation between the two countries, as well as a range of matters of mutual interest.

HE Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz bin Saleh Al Khulaifi met in Seoul on Wednesday with HE Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea Cho Hyun.

The meeting discussed bilateral relations and ways to advance them and addressed a number of regional and international issues of common concern, particularly developments in the Gaza Strip and the occupied Palestinian territories, Syria, East Asia, and the latest regional security developments.

During the meeting, the Korean Foreign Minister commended the constructive role played by the State of Qatar in mediation, conflict resolution, and bringing peace to the region, while praising its ongoing efforts to support dialogue and promote regional and international stability.

Qatar Affirms Importance of Collective Commitment to Rule of International Law as Cornerstone of International Peace and Security

The State of Qatar affirmed the necessity of seizing the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations to renew the collective commitment of Member States to the rule of international law, which constitutes the cornerstone of international peace and security and a fundamental pillar of multilateralism when addressing protracted conflicts and various violations of the United Nations Charter and international law.
This came in the statement of the State of Qatar delivered by HE Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations, Sheikha Alya Ahmed bin Saif Al-Thani during the high-level open debate of the Security Council, under the agenda item ‘the promotion and strengthening of the rule of law in the maintenance of international peace and security,” on the topic “Reaffirming international rule of law: Pathways to reinvigorating peace, justice and multilateralism,” held at United Nations Headquarters in New York.
Her Excellency noted that the increasing threats facing this foundational principle of adherence to the rule of international law require rebuilding trust in international law and respect for the principles of the Charter, particularly respect for the principles of sovereignty and territorial integrity of states, non-interference in their internal affairs, non-use or threat of use of force, respect for human rights, and the right to self-determination.
Her Excellency explained that compliance with international obligations is a legal necessity, in addition to being essential for mutual trust among states and for strengthening multilateralism in the service of peace, stability, justice, and dignity for all states without exception.
Her Excellency stressed the need to renew commitment to the Charter’s principles regarding the peaceful settlement of disputes, an approach to which the State of Qatar has long adhered in practice. She noted that Qatar has consistently supported dialogue, mediation, and diplomacy as the most effective and sustainable means of preventing and resolving conflicts.
She further emphasized the importance of preventing and addressing emerging threats at an early stage, in addition to resolving conflicts and consolidating sustainable peace, pointing out that enhancing cooperation with regional organizations is vital and that all efforts must be aligned with the principles of sovereignty.
HE Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations clarified that for the international organization to remain capable of fulfilling its mandates and restoring confidence in multilateralism, the State of Qatar supports the United Nations reform agenda, the revitalization of the work of the General Assembly, and the reform of the Security Council. Qatar also supports efforts aimed at reforming global governance to make it more inclusive and responsive to the realities of today’s world.
Her Excellency reaffirmed the State of Qatar’s firm commitment to an international order based on law, justice, and cooperation, in accordance with the United Nations Charter and international law, calling for seizing the opportunity of the United Nations entry into its ninth decade to renew the collective pledge of Member States to uphold the Charter and strengthen the rule of law as the cornerstone of a more peaceful, just, and secure world.

The Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar and the Republic of Armenia held the first round of political consultation on Tuesday in Yerevan, Armenia.

HE Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr. Ahmed bin Hassan Al Hammadi led the Qatari side, while HE Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Vahan Kostanyan led the Armenian side.
